item are maintained there every session; this handoff is just the thin convention entry.)

## 2026-07-19 — adopted the project-docs convention (T2.2 pilot)
Added `brief.md` (the canonical entry point) routing to the existing docs. No existing
files moved or renamed. The real current-milestone / next-item continues to live in
`BUILD-STATE.md` (the single-writer session log) — read it for what to pick up.
