.areas — practice-area layout options

Nine layouts for section 4 of home-v2. Every option carries the same five practices, the same five paragraphs verbatim from the live site, and the same five icon files. The one exception is flagged on the page itself: A6 has nowhere to put a paragraph, so it carries a single new caption line, badged NEW COPY. What changes between options is geometry, hierarchy and how much of the “What We Do” tree is exposed on the homepage.

Five practices, and they are real pages, children of What We Do (post 14659): Injury Claims, Estate Lawyers, Business Law, Real Estate, Marine Lawyers. There is no practice_area post type — the homepage block is hand-built.
On the live site each area is a link — the icon AND the heading both point at /our-services/<slug>/. The replica in home-v2 dropped the links entirely. Every option below restores them; that alone is a fix worth shipping whichever layout wins.
The five practices are not the same size. Sub-pages behind each: Injuries 13 · Estates 3 · Real Estate 2 · Business 0 · Marine 0. The current layout presents them as five equal peers.
Homepage order differs from the menu order. Homepage runs Injuries, Estates, Business, Marine, Real Estate; the site menu runs Injuries, Estates, Business, Real Estate, Marine. One of the two is wrong and nobody has decided which.
The five paragraphs are duplicated verbatim in the header mega-menu rails. If this copy is ever rewritten, it has to be rewritten in two places in this file.

The icons are the hard constraint — measured, not assumed

Two consequences that constrain every option on this page:

96px is already an upscale. The baseline renders a 93px-wide raster at 96px. No option here draws an icon larger than 96px, because there is no resolution left to spend. A layout that wants a big icon needs the set redrawn as SVG first.
The colour is baked into the file. These are flat one-colour rasters with the brand orange and teal painted in — they cannot be recoloured with CSS, cannot go white on a dark panel, and cannot invert on hover. A6 and A7 work only because orange and teal both survive their grounds; that was checked, not hoped.

Why the baseline looks unresolved: five items in a three-column grid
A1 is the layout home-v2 carries now. Three columns, five items — so row two holds Marine and Real Estate under columns one and two and leaves a hole at the right. This is the same shape of defect the team section had (thirteen tiles in four columns), and it has the same two honest cures: change the column count to divide the item count, or stop using a grid. A2, A3, A7 and A9 take the first; A5 and A8 take the second; A4 and A6 change the hierarchy instead.

Content questions this section raises — for Darren, not for me

What does the orange/teal alternation mean? Injuries and Marine are orange, the other three teal. It is not litigation-versus-transactional (Estates does both) and it is not alphabetical. If it means nothing, it is decoration pretending to be a category.
Should Business and Marine stay on the homepage at all? Zero sub-pages each, and the firm's own team blurb lists five practices in a different emphasis. A4 and A9 make this visible rather than smoothing it over.
Is “over 160 years of experience” current? It is the live sub-heading, carried verbatim, and it is the sort of number that quietly goes stale.
Air Traveler Injury Claims is a published top-level page that appears in no practice group. Six practices, or a stray page?
