Cork & Barrel
Website Quote

---

Jul 2026

# **Objective**

Replace the existing Wix site with a modern, well-structured WordPress website that presents Cork & Barrel properly, is easy for your team to manage, and brings the BarnetPOS product catalogue into the site itself so customers can browse and buy without being handed off to a separate storefront.

Alongside the website, we will establish the marketing foundations that the current setup is missing: a real email platform with your existing contact list migrated, analytics that actually tell you what is working, and a product feed that can be pushed to Google Shopping.

# **Scope**

### Website Design

We will produce design mockups for **3 to 4 key pages**, typically Home, a primary interior page, the store and product experience, and one supporting page, based on your initial design direction and any brand assets you provide.

You will get **one comprehensive round of feedback** on these mockups. Once the direction is approved, the remaining pages are built out using the design language established in those mockups.

The final build should be very close to the mockups but does not have to match pixel-for-pixel. Differences will be minor and are generally for responsive-design compatibility and ease of management in the backend.

### Template Creation

#### ***Basic Template Creation***

This includes the creation of all the basic template elements such as:

* Header, footer, and other template areas
* Menus
* Consistent colour palette, typography settings, etc
* Setup of necessary UI blocks and layouts which will be used around the site

The template will:

- [ ] Have a clean SEO friendly structure
- [ ] Use the most current WordPress with Gutenberg Editor and modern premium theme framework with an unlimited lifetime premium licence
- [ ] Fully responsive design (will display nicely on all common device screen sizes)
- [ ] Be compatible with most plugins and additional frameworks that you may want to add in the future
- [ ] Have a backend that focuses on user-friendly content management, easily accessible to an average user with little significant technical skill or knowledge of coding languages
- [ ] Not contain any hard coded content
- [ ] Have templates ready for various content types

#### ***Baseline Structural SEO / AEO***

The new site will conform to all main technical SEO best practices, and will also be structured so that AI answer engines can read and cite it correctly:

- [ ] Proper heading structure for all pages and post types
- [ ] Schema markup for webpages, products, local business, and FAQs
- [ ] FAQ content blocks available as a reusable template element
- [ ] Optimized page meta (titles and descriptions) across the site
- [ ] General technical accessibility best practices
- [ ] Clean XML sitemap
- [ ] Block “thin” pages from search engines

#### ***Standard Page Creation***

We will manage the creation of all pages on the new site within the given template. Most will be image and text layouts, with a handful requiring more complex sections and UI elements.

- [ ] **10 to 12 pages total**, including the standard set (About, Contact, and similar) plus your key content pages
- [ ] Home page with custom layout and dynamic elements
- [ ] Store and product landing experience (see Ecommerce section below)
- [ ] Prominent loyalty signup call to action, placed for visibility across the site
- [ ] Calls to action driving traffic into the store throughout the site

#### ***Post Structure and Setup***

“Posts” refer to types of content that generally have an index page and multiple individual instances (the “posts”) of that type of content. A blog is the primary example.

- [ ] Blogging capability: index template and individual post template, including thumbnail images, categorization and tagging, and short summary or excerpt
- [ ] Ready for you to publish ongoing content without developer involvement

### Ecommerce: WooCommerce + BarnetPOS Integration

This is the piece that differentiates the new site from a simple brochure website. Rather than sending customers off to a separate Barnet-hosted storefront, we bring the catalogue into your own site.

- [ ] Store is **completely branded inside your website**, using the same header, footer, navigation, and design language
- [ ] Products are **fully browsable without leaving your site**, including category browsing, product detail pages, and search
- [ ] **Inventory and pricing sync directly from Barnet** via their published API, so the site reflects what is actually in stock at the store
- [ ] Customers only leave your site at the **checkout step**, which is handled by Barnet. This is also what keeps payment processing and PCI compliance on Barnet's side rather than yours.
- [ ] **Google Merchant Center** product feed, enabling free Google Shopping listings and paid Shopping campaigns
- [ ] **Meta Pixel and Conversions API** setup, so Facebook and Instagram advertising can be measured and audiences retargeted
- [ ] Where the API permits, **capture customer emails from online orders and push them into Mailchimp** automatically

**A note on sync timing.** We will sync inventory and pricing as close to real time as Barnet's API allows. Most POS APIs of this type support either a live product lookup or a frequent scheduled sync, typically every few minutes. We will implement whichever gives the most current data. Please also see *Important Notes on the Barnet Integration* below, which covers the one area of this project with a genuine unknown.

**A note on Facebook and Instagram shopping.** Our earlier estimate mentioned syncing your catalogue to Facebook Business alongside Google. Having looked into it properly, we are removing that from scope, and we would rather tell you now than at launch.

Meta's commerce policy prohibits alcohol from Shops on Facebook and Instagram, from Marketplace, and from the WhatsApp Business Catalog. This is a policy restriction on their side, not a technical limitation we could work around. Separately, in January 2026 Meta stopped algorithmically recommending alcohol-related business pages, so that content now reaches mainly people who already follow you.

What still works on Meta is advertising itself. Alcohol advertising remains permitted in Canada with appropriate age targeting, so we will set up the Pixel and Conversions API to support that. Google Shopping is unaffected and remains fully in scope.

The practical takeaway is that with Meta's organic reach reduced and catalogue selling unavailable, your email list becomes a more important channel than it would otherwise be. That is a good argument for doing the Mailchimp migration properly, which is covered below.

### Email Platform Setup (Mailchimp)

- [ ] Set up your Mailchimp account and configure it correctly from the start
- [ ] Domain verification and email authentication (SPF and DKIM) so your campaigns land in inboxes rather than spam
- [ ] **Migrate your existing contacts from Wix**, approximately 1,400 to 1,500 contacts, with list hygiene applied during import
- [ ] Integrate Mailchimp with the new website, including the loyalty signup call to action and any other signup points
- [ ] Confirm compliance basics such as consent capture and unsubscribe handling

*Mailchimp's own subscription fees are billed by Mailchimp directly and are not included in this quote. At your list size you should expect to be on a paid tier.*

### Analytics: Google Analytics 4

- [ ] Set up Google Analytics 4 and connect it to the site
- [ ] Configure **key event tracking** so you can see what actually matters: loyalty signups, newsletter signups, store product views, add to cart, checkout handoffs to Barnet, contact form submissions, and phone or directions clicks
- [ ] Link to Google Search Console
- [ ] Brief walkthrough of the reports so the data gets used

### Content Entry / Creation

We will adapt the content provided by your team into the design and populate all pages. Where you do not have photography available, we will use suitable stock or generated imagery to fill the gaps. Any significant new copy can be written and published by you before launch.

### Training

- [ ] **Two 1-hour training sessions** so your team can confidently manage content, publish blog posts, and finalize edits without needing us

### Launch

We will handle the launch of the site, including running through a full launch checklist to confirm everything is working, redirects from the old Wix URLs are in place, and the site is SEO-ready from day one.

## **Optional Add-Ons**

These are listed for reference. **Neither is included in the total below.**

* **Promotions scheduler, $400.** A dedicated mechanism for setting up and scheduling promotions that go live and expire automatically, without anyone needing to remember to take them down. *(Assumed declined.)*
* **Branded Mailchimp email template, $500.** A designed, on-brand email template with sample content, so campaigns match the new site. *(Declined.)*

## **Hosting & Maintenance Options**

You are free to choose your own hosting and we will launch to whichever host you prefer. If you would rather we handle it, we offer the following:

**Hosting, $29/mo**

* Free CDN for media hosting
* Free SSL
* Nightly backups
* Regular plugin updates. If anything doesn't update correctly, we roll it back and tell you what's going on.

**Support, prepaid hourly blocks**

* 5-hour block, $599
* 10-hour block, $999

**Hosting and Support, $299/mo**

Everything in hosting, plus ongoing support. You are free to email us any time with questions. As long as it's a quick question, we'll do our best to answer or resolve it rather than sending you off to a server support chat.

### Not included in the above

* **Barnet's fees.** API access is **$20/mo**. Payment processing is quoted by Barnet as interchange % plus assessment fee % plus a **0.29% markup**, the same as your retail location, plus **$0.15 per transaction** and a **$20 monthly fee**. These are billed by Barnet directly.
* **Mailchimp subscription fees**, billed by Mailchimp directly.
* **Hosting**, unless you take our hosting option above.

# **Timelines**

### Start Date

We are holding a project intake slot for **August 6, 2026**.

**This start date is pending availability at the time of acceptance and prompt attention to a 50% deposit invoice.**

Please note that our capacity is limited and we may need to prioritize projects in the order they were approved. This changes daily, so available start dates are subject to frequent change. If we receive approval and are able to start earlier, we will do our best to work ahead of schedule, also depending on your availability.

### Completion Time

We expect to complete the project within **6 weeks from the start date**, assuming prompt feedback and content delivery from your team. That puts launch in **mid-September 2026**.

The two things most likely to move that date are turnaround time on the design feedback round, and Barnet's responsiveness on API access and documentation. We will front-load the API work so that any issue surfaces early rather than late.

# **Important Notes on the Barnet Integration**

We want to be straightforward about the one real unknown in this project.

Barnet has confirmed to both of us that a published API exists and that developers connect to their platform through it. We have requested the API documentation and a working example across three separate interactions and have so far received only "we'll get back to you." **We have priced this proposal on the assumption that Barnet is correct and that a complete, reasonably usable API exists.** We think that's a fair assumption, but since we haven't seen it, here is exactly how we'll handle it if it turns out otherwise.

**We prove the API out first.** The integration work is scheduled early, so if there is a problem we find it in week one or two, not week five. This is deliberate. It limits how much effort is at risk.

**What "incomplete" could look like in practice.** The Google Merchant Center feed is a good example of a downstream feature that depends entirely on what the API gives us. To list products on Google Shopping, we need complete, structured product data, meaning titles, descriptions, images, pricing, stock status, and identifiers such as UPC or GTIN where they exist, and we need to be able to hold that data as proper product records inside WooCommerce. If Barnet's API exposes only a partial product record, for example no images or no product identifiers, or if it only supports live lookups with no way to store product data locally, then the Google feed could be reduced in scope or not possible at all, even though the storefront itself works fine. The same dependency applies to the automatic push of online-order customer emails into Mailchimp. We will test both of these specifically in the first phase and tell you what we find before you have spent meaningful budget on them.

**If the API turns out to be incomplete or unreliable overall**, we will bring you the limitations and the options. The default fallback is to revert to a Barnet-powered storefront, and we would recommend engaging Barnet directly to build it. Barnet has quoted **$1,500 plus monthly hosting** for that. In that scenario the Google Merchant Center integration is no longer possible, so it comes out of scope. We would charge a fair discovery fee for the integration work completed up to the point it became clear the API wasn't viable, scaled to how far we actually got. The rest of the project, meaning the website, email, and analytics, is unaffected and proceeds normally.

**If the API works but is difficult**, meaning access, documentation, or communication present significant unforeseen obstacles, we will pause as early as possible and discuss the potential additional cost with you before continuing. We will not run up hours and present you with a bill after the fact.

**The $2,950 is a firm price for the scope described**, assuming reasonable API access. It is not a range and it will not drift upward for ordinary development friction, only for the specific scenarios described above, and only after a conversation with you.

# **Additional Terms**

The following are our standard terms for website projects and may not all be applicable to this specific project.

**Scope Confirmation.** The proposed approach and costs are preliminary and subject to adjustment should the scope change.

**Scope Changes.** We understand that it is often impossible to foresee and confirm every detail related to scope, so we expect that there may be some small changes as we move forward. However, if there are changes that significantly impact the amount of work required, we may need to compensate by limiting scope in other areas or adjusting the quote. We will discuss the options if this comes up.

**Start Dates.** We aim to start work as soon as possible, but for consistent planning we generally officially start new projects on the 1st and 15th of the month and require your clear approval at least 1 week prior to the official start date. Any deposits must be paid before the target start date to avoid the potential need to push the start into the next available start date.

**Deposit and Payments.** Official work on the project will not begin until the initial deposit payment is received. The final invoice will be issued at time of material completion of the website.

**Material Completion.** If the majority of the website is completed but awaiting content or other final detail, the site will be considered completed and will be launched as soon as we receive the final details required to do so.

**Delays.** If the project is on hold for a lengthy period due to client-side factors, there may be restart fees.

**Content Freeze.** In cases where we are migrating content from an existing website to another, we ask that clients let us know if they are concurrently updating content on their live site while we are building the new site so we can make appropriate plans to sync the content on launch. By default, we assume that there is no need to sync content before launch unless this issue specifically comes up during the staging process. There may be extra fees related to syncing content after the new site is launched.

**Content.** While we will advise on best practices for conversion, you are responsible for writing all original content and providing suitable images except in areas specifically written into the scope. Where it's reasonable to do so, we will gather content from your existing website. In places where new content is required, we will insert placeholder content which can be easily replaced by you or by us through a single comprehensive content document.

**Third-Party Platforms.** This project depends on services operated by Barnet, Mailchimp, Google, and Meta. We will integrate with them according to their published capabilities and policies, but we do not control their platforms, pricing, uptime, or policy changes. Where a platform's own policies limit what is possible, as is currently the case with alcohol and Meta's commerce policy, that limitation applies regardless of how the site is built. Fees charged by those platforms are separate from this quote.

**Training.** We will provide basic guidance on features within the scope of this project so that you will be able to manage the day-to-day functionality. Full training in advanced WordPress features or template design is not included.

**Launch.** We will handle the launch of everything we've built. If launching on a host you control, we may need access to your website's cPanel or FTP access.

**Support.** We will include support for bugs or content management training related to features developed in the scope of this project for a period of 30 days after material completion. Changes or new features that were not outlined in the original scope can be done as part of a future engagement or maintenance package.

**Future Maintenance.** We build our sites so that they can be completely maintained by the site owner. However, we can provide ongoing services which include basic web maintenance, or we can offer small maintenance packages.
