My wife Lisa and I have proudly owned at The Sands at Grace Bay since 2017 and have greatly valued being part of this special community. I am honored to submit my name for consideration for the Board of Directors and would welcome the opportunity to serve our ownership.
I am an Associate Broker with Mo Wilson Properties and have sold more than 2,600 homes over the course of my real estate career. I am licensed in both Virginia and Maryland and bring decades of experience in real estate, property values, and client service. My professional background has given me a strong understanding of the importance of thoughtful governance, financial stewardship, and protecting long-term property value for owners.
I am a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and served as a Lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserve. Throughout my career I have been active in leadership and service roles. I served for eight years on the Board of the Prince William Association of Realtors, including a term as President in 2010, representing more than 3,000 Realtor members. I have also had the privilege of serving on the 11th Congressional District Nominating Committee for both the United States Naval Academy and the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
Lisa and I care deeply about The Sands and its continued reputation as one of the premier properties on Grace Bay. If elected, I will work collaboratively with fellow board members and ownership to support sound decision-making, responsible financial management, and the long-term success of our community.
We are proud parents of two sons: Wilson, a fashion designer based in New York City, and Ethan, who is studying finance and accounting while playing rugby at the University of Notre Dame.

Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Tom spent the majority of his career as Chairman, CEO & President of a private company in the Commercial Aviation interior repair business. Through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions, Tom and his team were successful in growing the business internationally with federally licensed maintenance operations / offices in Canada, US, UK, Spain & Thailand with an employee count of 800. During this dramatic growth, Tom spent ten years in Boulder, Colorado, and one year in London, UK, and then moved to Toronto, Ontario in 2006 where he
currently resides. Tom sold the business and retired in December 2019. Tom has two daughters currently in university; one at the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh, Scotland and his youngest is attending the American University in Washington, D.C.
Tom purchased his unit at The Sands in February 2017. Now that he is retired and with COVID hopefully behind us, he plans on spending three to four months a year on the island. He is passionate about the resort and has a great appreciation for the work that goes on behind the scenes. Tom and his partner Leslie enjoy golfing at Royal Turks & Caicos and are attempting to learn to play tennis. Leslie volunteers at the Potcake Place twice weekly while in Provo.

As CEO and lead partner, Stan Hartling (B.Comm, CA) plays a vital role in all aspects of The Hartling Group’s development projects – from initial design, feasibility studies, financing, and promotion, to grand openings and the ongoing operations of each project. Stan also owns and operates Oceanside Realty, a licensed real estate brokerage firm in the Turks & Caicos Islands.
Mr. Hartling prides himself on building strong relationships with his partners, individual investors and his staff, as demonstrated during 16 years as a successful property developer. To ensure continued success, he has recruited a senior management team who bring a wealth of international experience in luxury hotel operation, property development, and property management. The Hartling Group employs nearly 400 staff throughout its resorts and other operations.
In 2009, Mr. Hartling was the recipient “Developer of the Year” Award presented by the prestigious Caribbean World Home and Living Magazine.
The Sands at Grace Bay, The Shore Club Turks & Caicos, and The Palms Turks & Caicos are Mr. Hartling ‘s three current world-class projects, developed under the Hartling Group. The resorts are situated on the island of Providenciales, in the Turks & Caicos Islands, and each offers a unique, luxury resort experience.

Tom Mothorpe
I was born and raised on Long Island, New York. I graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1978 with a degree in Civil Engineering. After graduation, I served in the U.S. Army as a Logistics Officer in Virginia and Colorado and obtained the rank of Captain. I began my accounting career with Price Waterhouse, Denver in 1984, and am a licensed CPA in the State of Colorado, since 1985. Since employment at Price Waterhouse, I have taken on positions within various companies with increasing leadership roles and responsibilities. I retired in late 2019, however, before my retirement I was the CFO for a Berkshire Hathaway Company, Sterling Crane, a large U.S. crane company headquartered in Denver, for the 15 years.
I am married; my wife is Yvonne, a CPA as well. I have four daughters, all college graduates: University of Hawaii, North Texas, Colorado, and Colorado State. I currently reside in Highlands Ranch, CO; for the past 30+ years.
I have been an owner of The Sands since November 2016 and have served on The Sands Strata Board of Directors since June 2017. I consider myself as the go to individual with regards to financial and accounting decisions of the Strata Board and provide an independent financial oversight. One significant cost savings that OSM agreed to during my tenure was to cap management fees calculated on insurance premiums, thus saving the Strata $110,322 over my 4 year term. I am actively involved in the annual budget preparation as well as annual Capex. Capex projects are analyzed, prioritized, and scheduled in the best interest of the owners. Furthermore, I have taken over the financial preparation and presentation at the annual AGM.
I consider myself an open minded individual and ethically sound; I try to look beyond the horizon and explore all options. I take an analytical approach while still being able to step back and see the big picture.
I have owned numerous properties throughout my lifetime and have always been committed to adequately maintaining and improving each property in order to increase market value and ROI while consciously focused on costs. During my retirement years, I plan on visiting The Sands approximately five months of the year, which has been the case in 2020 and 2021, thus far. I believe my well-rounded background and wide range of experience would continue to benefit The Sands community in the coming years.

David has been a financial journalist and broadcaster, and then an executive at both a major business association and a top think tank.
Along the way, he has served on quite a few not-for-profit boards. Most notably, he spent 17 years on the board of Futurpreneur Canada, which during that time grew tenfold and provided financing and mentors for 10,000 business start-ups. He was Vice Chair for about half that time, and at one time or another either chair or member of committees including Executive, Finance and Audit, Governance and Nominations, and Marketing and Communications. He also served two terms as a Trustee of Youth Business International, the UK-based global network of similar organizations.
He was born in Montreal, Quebec. He moved to Ottawa in 1975 to study journalism at Carleton University. He still lives there, but along the way he also have worked in Toronto and on both coasts, and has travelled to every single province and territory.
He married Oriana Trombetti in 2014. The two of them checked out several southern destinations but settled on Turks and Caicos as a place to put down roots once she retired from her job as a government lawyer in 2018. They bought their unit in October last year.
He has a grown daughter, Ruth, from his previous marriage. She lives in Montreal, where she works in television and movie animation.
