The closing section — image against emblem

Five treatments of the closing section. Copy verbatim in all five — heading, all three paragraphs, both CTAs in AISV's order (Book a Consultation primary, the assessment secondary).

Two devices are being tested against each other: a photograph, and the brand emblem. Boards 1 and 2 use an image; boards 3, 4 and 5 use the swirl. They are not interchangeable — a photo is content and needs a subject the client has approved, while the emblem is an asset already owned and cleared. Whichever wins decides whether this section has an asset dependency at all.

The brand guide's own rule on the emblem is “sparingly and large, never behind text it would compete with.” Board 4 deliberately breaks the second half of that to show what it costs. Board 5 also departs from the page's habit by putting the closing section on a light ground, which is what the guide prefers for the logo — at the cost of the page's only dark beat.

No people appear in any image slot. Client decision, 2026-08-27: no stock photos of people, and no team photos on the home page. Every image here is a labelled outline showing size and crop, and each board's note says what would have to be shot or licensed to fill it.

The section is the last thing before the footer, and it is the second time the page asks for both CTAs in the same row — the hero is the first. That repetition is deliberate in the copy and is kept.

1Photograph as the ground, NIGHT over itA full-bleed image with a heavy NIGHT wash, text straight on top. The conventional closing band, and the one that most needs an asset that does not exist yet. With the no-people rule in force the only subjects available are place, architecture or object — a Bellevue or Seattle skyline, an office interior, a desk. Each of those says something different about the firm, and none of them is in the Brand Kit. The wash also has to be dark enough for white text at any crop, which is what usually leaves these bands looking like grey soup.

2Photograph as an object, text alongsideThe image gets an edge instead of becoming the ground — the same shadow-box device the hero uses, so the page opens and closes on the same treatment. It needs a far less heroic photograph: a cropped object at this size can carry a document, a handshake-free desk, a building detail, and it does not have to survive text sitting on it. Costs the band its full width, which is what a closing section usually trades on.

3Emblem cropped at the edge, largeThe swirl bled off the right at roughly twice the band's height, so only an arc of it is on screen. This is the guide's rule followed exactly: large, sparing, and nowhere near the text. Reading it as an arc rather than a logo is the point — it is the closing mark of the page, not a second logo competing with the header. No asset to source; the file is in the Brand Kit already.

4Emblem as a watermark behind the textThe swirl centred and scaled past the band, sitting under the copy at low opacity. Drawn deliberately to test the half of the brand rule that says never behind text it would compete with. It gives the band a centre and a symmetry the others do not have. Judge it on the paragraphs, not the heading: white text at 18px over a shape with its own light and dark is where a watermark stops being atmosphere and starts costing legibility.

5Emblem in colour, on a light groundThe band on the brand's blue gradient instead of NIGHT, with the swirl in full colour at size. It is the only board that follows the guide's own preference — the logo belongs on white or a bright brand gradient — and the only one where the emblem is allowed its actual colours rather than a ghost of them. The cost is real: the page loses its dark closing beat, and the footer below then has to carry that weight alone.
