The picture is fully inside the gradient, so the head is one closed object and the section below is untouched. Nothing downstream has to know about it.

552px of head. That is a hero on a page that is not the home page, and the services head was written short on purpose. Shown mainly so the cost of containing a picture is visible: it is 137px taller than the same circle hanging.

A portrait plate is the tallest shape there is, so containing it costs the most height for the least picture: 285px of picture inside a 592px head, the tallest frame here by 40px.

The head returns to 415px, copy height, while the circle gets more air AND more size than the contained one above. The gold ring crossing the boundary is the moment: the mark cuts the line between the head and the page, which is the one job a brand shape can do that a photograph cannot.

The section below owes it a clear right column, permanently, on every page that uses this head.

The biggest brand statement available here. At 480px the circle is the page’s largest object and the head is still one of the shortest of the six.

Half a circle in the first section is a strong claim for a page title area, and it fixes the section below into a permanently narrow measure. It also demands the most of the photograph: a 480px circle shows every fault in a crop.

Option 3 from the first round with the correction applied: the plate starts at 140px, below the title, instead of level with the crumb, and the head is back to 415px.

It is the safe choice rather than the brand choice. A rectangle crossing a boundary is a layout move; a ring crossing it is the firm’s mark doing the crossing.

The plate becomes the tallest object on the page and ties the head to the first section hard. The most magazine-like of the six.

At 520px the plate outweighs the title it is meant to accompany, and the section below loses its right third for the length of a full screen.
