The image takes more than half the row in every option and the text narrows to match, at 55 / 60 / 65 / 70, with a fifth that keeps 65 and lets the heading escape the narrow column. All images are now 1:1, matching the hero. The copy is verbatim and identical throughout — heading and all five paragraphs exactly as the brand story writes them.
The square fixes the problem the wide crop had. At 16:9 the image got wider without getting taller, so past about 60% the text became the tall element and the section grew a large empty field under the picture. A square grows in both directions at once: at 55% it is about 690px tall against roughly 640px of copy, and at 70% about 880px against 900px. The two columns now finish together at every share, which is what the wide crop could not do.
So the remaining question is the measure, not the balance. 55 gives about 65 characters a line and reads as prose; 65 gives about 48, below the comfortable range; 70 gives about 42, narrow enough that the paragraphs start reading as a caption. Option 5 buys back roughly two lines by pulling the heading out of the narrow column.
The image slot is an outline, and here the constraint is softer than elsewhere on the page. This section introduces the firm and points at the team, so a workplace or office photograph fits and is already permitted — the client's rule bars people on the home page, not imagery. The brand shoot's team photographs are the obvious candidate and the client allows one or two site-wide, so this is the slot to ask about. Worth knowing before asking: a square crop of a group photograph is a harder crop than a wide one, so if a team image is the intent, that is an argument for revisiting the ratio here.
