# FAQ rich results ended 2026-05-07 — build FAQ content for answer engines, not snippets

Source: the planning-session transcript and the long platform-decision reply (the transcript
cites Search Engine Land and Google Search Central: FAQ rich results stopped showing on
2026-05-07, with Search Console support removed in June 2026; the long reply states the same fact
without citations); the corrected proposal text on file, under "Advanced AI Schema", states the
corrected position; AISV's deck Phase 01 does not.

## The fact

Google no longer shows FAQ rich results in Search (since 2026-05-07). `FAQPage` markup does not
make a page "eligible for search features" any more. The proposal as sent on 2026-07-30 sold FAQ
schema as making pages "eligible for search features"; the corrected proposal text on file says
instead: "The value of FAQ content now is that it answers the questions buyers actually ask,
which is what AI answer engines surface, not a rich snippet." The transcript shows the
correction was made after sending, so whether the client's copy carries the corrected note is
to be confirmed by Rian.

## What is still in scope, unchanged

- A reusable FAQ pattern with `FAQPage` markup, emitted by `bw-ai-schema-pro`'s FAQ block (never
  hand-written JSON-LD — `/srv/projects/standards/wordpress.md`), placeable on any page by an
  editor without a developer.
- Day-one content: the brand story's objection-handling section is four Q&A pairs in exactly
  FAQ shape ("We Only Call a Lawyer When Something Comes Up."; "We Cannot Justify Hiring
  In-House Legal Counsel."; "We Are Worried About Unpredictable Legal Bills."; "Nothing Is Wrong
  Right Now."). It goes into the homepage objection-handling accordion on launch day.

## The flag for AISV

AISV's deck, Phase 01 "Fix the foundations": "add FAQ schema so pages surface in search and AI
answers"; and the Phase 01 AI Solutions page: "auto-write metadata, page titles, and FAQ schema"
and "Auto-generate FAQs ... to surface in search and AI answers". The "surface in search" half
is outdated. Tell AISV once, directly (see `.memory/aisv-division-of-labour.md`); the session
transcript calls this "a straightforward credibility win". Whether AISV has been told is not
recorded in any source — to be confirmed by Rian; if not, flag it in the next direct AISV
message.

## How to apply

- Wherever FAQ schema is discussed in project docs, client conversation, or the training
  session, state the 2026-05-07 fact and the answer-engine rationale. Never promise a rich
  snippet.
- Do not drop the FAQ deliverable because the snippet is gone; the schema still describes the
  content for AI answer engines, and the buyer-facing Q&A is the point.
