Are we still building what Adam asked for?
Mostly yes. One thing is still postponed.
Eight of his nine asks are now built or on plan. Only the interactive map is
deliberately later. Coverage reaches 17 shops including Heathrow, Hong Kong and Dubai.
His original list
✓
A consumer duty-free site
Exactly what we're building.
✓
Tied to the new duty-free competition
Medals show on the products. Unchanged.
✓
A price database that updates itself
Yes. Weekly or daily, his choice.
✓
Compare one bottle across airports
His Johnnie Walker Blue example. This is the heart of it.
✓
Medal images on database entries
Yes — and the shops already publish other competitions' medals, which is
a bonus he didn't ask for.
✓
A couple hundred to a few thousand products
Comfortably. One shop alone offers 33,000.
✓
"Open to ideas to make it better"
We have a few. None of them replace his plan.
→
All categories — liquor, beauty, tobacco, chocolate
Liquor first, rest follows. Matches his own competition, which is
liquor-only in year one.
→
The five example shops he listed
Two of them don't publish prices publicly. See below.

The interactive world map
Postponed, not dropped. Not in the first version.
The two real changes
1. Different shops than he listed — and a bigger one
Of his five examples, the Korean site blocks everyone and one isn't a shop at all.
But Dubai — the world's biggest duty-free store, which he didn't mention —
publishes everything openly. We start where the doors are open, and ask the closed
ones at Cannes. That's a meeting request, not a problem.
2. The map comes later
It's a nice-to-have that needs the database to exist first. Building it in week one
would cost time better spent on the prices underneath it. He should know it's coming,
just not yet.
The two worries, answered
Not expensiveCollecting from list pages instead of one page
per product cuts the work 40×. Likely under $100/month, possibly nothing.
Not legally riskyTwo rules cover it: never log in anywhere,
and take prices not pictures. Everything else follows from that.
