# Privacy policy **Version 1, 2026-09-20** Duty Free Professor compares the prices that airport shops publish on their own websites. This policy explains what personal information we hold when you use the site, why we hold it, and the choices you have. In short: we collect very little, we use no advertising or analytics trackers, and we never sell your information. ## Who we are Duty Free Professor ("we", "us") runs dutyfreeprofessor.com. For anything about this policy or your information, write to hello@dutyfreeprofessor.com. ## What we collect **When you browse.** Like almost every website, our servers and the network that delivers our pages record basic information about each request: your IP address, the page you asked for, the time, the page that linked you here, and the type of browser and device you use. We use it to keep the site running, to understand how busy it is, and to protect it against abuse. **When you choose your airports or change a setting.** The airports you pick and the display settings you choose are saved in your browser's local storage, so the site remembers them next time. They stay on your device. When a page needs them to arrange prices around your trip, your browser sends them with that request; we do not attach them to your name or your email address. **When you subscribe.** If you sign up for our emails we store your email address, the first name, last name and home airport you choose to give us, the topics you tick, the wording you agreed to, when you agreed, and which form you used. If you unsubscribe we keep your address and the date you left, so that we do not email you again. **When you have an account.** Accounts are for the people who run and review the site, and we create them by invitation. For an account we store a name, a username, an email address, the account's access level and a password kept in a form that cannot be read back, together with sign-in records and a log of the changes made from the account, for security. Comments posted from an account are stored with its name. **What we do not collect.** We use no advertising or analytics trackers, we build no profiles of visitors, and we do not buy personal information. The prices on the site come from shops' public web pages and contain no personal information about anyone. ## Cookies and browser storage We set one cookie, and only when you sign in to an account: it keeps you signed in for up to 30 days and is removed when you sign out. It is strictly necessary for the account to work. Your airport choices and settings are kept in your browser's local storage, as described above, and you can clear them at any time in your browser's settings. The companies that host and protect the site may set their own strictly necessary cookies to defend it against attacks. We use no advertising or analytics cookies. ## How we use your information - To run the site and show you prices arranged around the airports you choose. - To send the emails you asked for, and to stop sending them when you ask. - To run accounts: signing in, keeping a record of changes, and keeping accounts secure. - To keep the site secure, find faults and prevent abuse. - To meet our legal obligations. ## Our legal grounds Where data protection law asks us to name one: we send our emails with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time; we run accounts to provide the service the account holder asked for; and we keep server records and security logs because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the site running and safe. ## Who sees your information Your information is used only by Duty Free Professor. We never sell it, and we never share it with anyone for their own use or for advertising. The only others who handle it do so on our behalf and under our instructions: - the companies that host the site, deliver its pages and protect it from attacks; - the email service we use to send our emails, which receives your address only to send them. We would also disclose information to the authorities if the law required it. Sponsored placements are served from our own site, and advertisers receive no personal information about you from us. If you follow a link to an advertiser or a shop, their own privacy policy applies from then on. ## Where your information is kept Our service providers may handle your information in countries other than the one you live in. Where the law requires it, we rely on the safeguards it provides for such transfers, such as standard contractual clauses. ## How long we keep it - Subscriber details: until you unsubscribe; after that, only your address and the date you left, so that we do not email you again. - Account details: while the account exists, and for a short time after it is closed. - Server records and security logs: for a limited period, and then deleted. - Backups: for a limited period, and then overwritten. ## Your rights Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. You can withdraw your consent to our emails at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or by writing to us. To use any of these rights, write to hello@dutyfreeprofessor.com. We will answer within one month. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may also complain to your local data protection authority. ## Children The site is meant for adults. Parts of it are about alcohol, so it is not for anyone under the legal drinking age where they live, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. ## Security We protect the information we hold with access controls, encrypted connections and passwords stored in a form that cannot be read back, and we limit who can see it. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot promise that information will never be exposed, but we will tell you and the authorities when the law requires it. ## Changes to this policy When we change this policy, we update the version and date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use your information, we will say so on the site or by email before it takes effect.
