--- title: Posting jobs (Careers) excerpt: Add open positions, set the apply message and button, and display them on a page with the Careers block. tags: [careers, jobs, hiring, postings] target: client:brentwood ---

Every open position is a posting — a job title, a description, and a way to apply. You manage these under Careers in the left-hand menu. Postings don't have a page of their own on the site; they only appear wherever you've placed the Brentwood Careers block, normally your Careers page.

How do I post a new job?

  1. Go to Careers → Add Posting.
  2. Type the job title in the title field at the top, e.g. Learning Support Teacher — this is the position name applicants will see.
  3. Write the description in the main content area — responsibilities, qualifications, anything an applicant needs to know.
  4. Fill in the Open Message and Button Link fields in the Posting Details box (see What goes in the "Open Message"? and Where does the "Apply Now" button go?).
  5. Click Publish.

Note

Publishing a posting doesn't put it on the site by itself. Postings have no page of their own — they only show up through the Brentwood Careers block, so make sure that block is placed on your Careers page (or wherever you want jobs listed).

What goes in the "Open Message"?

The Open Message field sits in the Posting Details box, below the description. It's the short bold line shown beside the Apply Now button — for example Open until filled or Apply by August 7, 2026.

It's optional. Leave it blank and the Apply Now button shows on its own, with no message beside it.

Where does the "Apply Now" button go? (email or link)

The Button Link field, also in Posting Details, controls where the Apply Now button sends people. Type either:

You don't need to type mailto: or https:// yourself — Careers adds it automatically. Leave the field blank to hide the Apply Now button altogether; the Open Message, if you've set one, still shows on its own.

How do I show job postings on a page? (the Careers block)

Edit the page, click the + to add a block, and search for Brentwood Careers. It automatically lists every published posting — description, then the Open Message and Apply Now button, then a divider — in one stacked column. There's no filtering or column layout to set up; every open posting appears, in the order set under Careers in the admin menu.

With the block selected, open the Button & empty state panel in the settings sidebar. It has two options:

Note

The block's preview in the editor shows your real postings, but the button and links are switched off there so you don't accidentally trigger them while editing. They work normally once the page is live.

Changing the order postings appear in

Postings are listed by their Order number first (lowest at the top), then — for postings that share the same number — newest first. Every new posting starts at Order 0, so a fresh posting naturally appears above anything you've pushed down.

To reorder, open the posting and set a number in the Order field, in the Page Attributes box on the right. Give a posting a higher number (e.g. 10) to sink it below new postings; give it a negative number (e.g. -1) to pin it above everything else.

How do I close or remove a posting?

Only published postings show on the site. You have two options, depending on whether the change is permanent:

Important

Trashing a posting removes it everywhere the Careers block appears. If you might repost the same role later, use Draft instead — the description, Open Message and Button Link are all still there when you publish it again.
