# Image audit: "images for Rian" folder

Audited 2026-09-01. 86 files, but far less usable material than that count suggests.

## What the folder actually contains

Three unrelated sets got bundled together:

`camps images.zip` (171 MB) duplicates the already extracted `camps images/` folder. Safe to ignore.

## Coverage against the page's sections

**Strong.**
- **Model UN and Debate.** Two good conference shots with country placards (`debate01_23`,
  `DSC04731 copy`), plus a classroom shot. Enough to carry that camp.
- **Lodging.** A real dorm room with students in it (`PAGE FOOTER PHOTOS/Boarding.jpg`), and an
  outdoor patio dining and study shot (`boarding-patio.jpg`).
- **Campus and setting.** Aerial waterfront shots (`extended brentwood drone`, `HOME-1`) that match
  the Lodging copy almost line for line, and `rowers.jpg` which shows the snow capped Mount Baker
  the copy references.
- **Transportation.** `BC Map NEW2.ai` is a British Columbia map marking Vancouver Island,
  Vancouver, Victoria and Seattle. **This is the map the doc asks for** ("Insert map Terra
  shared"), so that item is already satisfied. Needs exporting from Illustrator to web format.
- **Marine Sciences, partially.** Scuba students at the campus waterfront (`Learning - scuba`),
  sea kayaking (`IMG_5939`), a sea lion, and old growth forest (`IMG_9644`, which matches the
  Harris Creek Spruce visit).

**Gaps.**
1. **No food or dining photography.** The cost section promises "on campus healthy meals, snacks",
   which is a top three anxiety for parents sending a child overseas. Nothing covers it.
2. **Marine Sciences lab and fieldwork.** The description promises phytoplankton tows, microscope
   identification, water quality testing, tide pools, snorkelling, clam digging and the Salish Sea
   Aquarium. We have none of those. The stock lab shot (`AdobeStock_1426999767`) is a generic
   student with a test tube and reads as stock.
3. **Everything shows the school year, not summer.** Most people shots are in blazers and school
   uniform. For a summer camp aimed at international families, that reads as boarding school
   rather than summer programme. This is the single biggest editorial problem with the set.
4. **No arrival or shuttle imagery.** Minor, but the shuttle is a selling point.

## Technical notes before use

- Files are print sized: up to 24 MB PNGs and a 9504x6336 JPEG. All need resizing for web.
- Several assets are `.psd` or `.ai` (seagull, globe, the cut out students, the BC map) and need
  exporting. The cut outs are print design elements, not photographs.
- `IMG_9644.jpg` carries EXIF orientation 6, so it displays sideways in anything that ignores EXIF.
- `2026 Summer Camps.png` is a QR code, not a photograph.

## Verdict

**Enough to build with, not enough to finish with.** The page can be designed and populated now;
Model UN, lodging, campus and transportation are all covered. Marine Sciences will lean on scuba,
kayaking and scenery rather than the fieldwork the copy describes, and there is nothing for meals.

Worth asking for: any summer or non uniform photography, anything from a science field trip, and
one dining hall shot.

## Correction after examining the brochure PDF (same day)

Two findings that change the asks above.

**1. The Marine Sciences fieldwork photography exists, but we were not sent it.**
`overnight camps brochure8.pdf` uses four marine shots that are absent from the `camps images/
Links/` folder: a student holding a purple sea urchin over a sample tray, students working a
tide pool with a clipboard, a group kayak launch from the beach, and a specimen shot on the
rocks. Inside the PDF they are embedded at screen resolution and are unusable for web:

A full width web image needs roughly 1600px. **Ask for these four by description at original
resolution** rather than asking generally for "science field trip photos". Whoever produced the
brochure has them.

**2. `IMG_6107.jpg` was misjudged from a thumbnail.** It is a beach campfire at dusk with
students around it, 4032x3024, and nobody is in school uniform. It is the strongest camp life
image in the whole set and directly answers the "everything looks like term time" problem.
